An Jansen is the Head of the International Funds team and Senior Research Policy Adviser at the KU Leuven Research Coordination Office. Her work area includes all international funding, but with primary focus on the European funding programmes for Research and Innovation (Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe). She is the KU Leuven expert and first contact point for the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions. In addition, An has extensive expertise on doctoral and postdoctoral policy, including the training and education, career development and international and intersectoral mobility of doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. She coordinates the YouReCa (Young Researchers’ Careers) programme that assists KU Leuven’s young researchers to evolve into highly skilled and multifunctional professionals.
An studied Bio-Engineering at the KU Leuven and the University of Granada in Spain. She then moved the US were she investigated yeast (epi)genetics at the MIT Whitehead Institute. She continued this research at the KU Leuven where she received her PhD in Bioscience Engineering in 2010. She worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the KU Leuven and the Flemish Institute for Biotechnology before joining the KU Leuven as a Research Policy Adviser.
